For a second there....I looked cute!

It's not a very "stylish" life here on the farm. Oh don't get me wrong.....we have lots of fabulous farmhouse accents, stunning flowers and even the cutest cowboy hats and gardening gloves, but real style? Ummm..no! lol There's just not time nor money for it. At least in my mind there's no money for it. I'd rather build another chicken coop or buy more fencing for gardens and deer pens then get myself a dozen new dresses. Besides, who can garden in a dress? Before I get too far into this I'm going to tell you something I never tell anyone. I have no style. None. Zero. Zippo. ZILCH! Even when I try I come up flat. My cutest outfits were all bought by my mother-in-law. That woman has style for miles! (so jealous!)

Most of the time when I shop I shop for cheap and comfy. When I try to shop for cute stuff, I go with trends in magazines or what I know other stylish people are wearing (MIL & DD) Sometimes I just walk up to the sales lady, point to a mannequin and say "I need that whole outfit"  (minus the jewelry....I can't wrap my mind around expensive costume jewelry. It's either expensive or it's costume...how can it be both?) So I often find myself at the outlet mall. It doesn't help that I the place I work at, is right at the front entrance. Who's bright idea was that anyway?

On one particular day I find myself inside the Vera Bradley outlet store. Have you tried this before? I think I had my sunglasses on the whole time. Ouch! Serious color overload. Each individual pattern is lovely but a store full of 90 different patterns? Whoa Nellie! Anyway, DD loves the stuff so I often bargain shop at the outlet and on this particular day I see flip flops for $5. No joke! Go look at their regular site right now, these are like $30 normally.  Of course I buy myself a pair. Cheap and fashionable. How can I lose?

So I hold onto them for a few months. Summer comes and I break out the flip flops. I accessorize with the shirt DD bought me for a Mothers Day gift, add jeans hubby bought me when he was out of town and the Rx sunglasses he also picked out and I get to go out looking cute! Awesome right? Except cute hurts! Halfway through the day I can't stand it anymore and as since I was in the Rue 21 store buying jackets as I mentioned in this post I happened upon some slippers on sale for $1. As you can see, I bought them. I justified it by deciding they were going to be my truck slippers for days my feet hurt. *sigh* Even when I try, I can't be stylish for long.

The slippers now reside in that little storage space at the bottom of the truck door and I end up wearing them to drive every time I try to wear cute shoes. DD loves the pair I bought her and wears them constantly. She says that I will "get used to them" if I keep wearing them. I'm probably gonna skip that. Maybe they'll fit her?

  2. Hahaha! I too have no style! My only jewelry is a simple wedding band. My favorite shoes are a few pairs of Crocs (winter and summer styles) and a pair of sandals. I don't wear makeup, never have. When my two daughters became teenagers I had to send them to my sister for makeup tips because I didn't know the difference between mascara and rouge.

    I love your slippers!
