How to clean up broken glass....use a lint roller!

Just wanted to take a quick minute to pass on a few of the little tricks I use to clean up quickly. It seems that every time someone breaks something glass it's just impossible to clean it all up! First I sweep, then wipe with up the area with a paper towel. I always see a piece or two later though. So I started using a lint roller after sweeping and all the glass is gone!

If that doesn't work then a slice of white bread comes to the rescue...and then all is right with the world!
disclosure

As soon as a piece of glass or ceramic hits the floor I grab a paper bag to do some clean up. Never throw glass directly into your garbage bag. That's how my husband ended up with a huge scar on the back of his hand a trip to the ER. He grabbed the garbage bag to take outside and broken glass poked through the bag into his hand. Ouch. Always bag up the glass in at least one paper bag, preferably 2!

Second step is to use a broom or vacuum to get up as much glass as possible. Obviously a vacuum work the best, but if you only have a broom then go ahead and do that. Then move on to the next step.

I use my 'paint roller' style lint roller, but a regular one will work just fine also! As you can see, I had to use it this week when the cat knocked a vase off the fireplace. Bad kitty! (if you are looking for one of these, Amazon has a long handle lint roller that is awesome! I have both long and short handled roller and use them both constantly.) This will ensure all the tiny shards of glass that the broom misses will get picked up.

If there is any glass left (their shouldn't be, but it's possible) take a piece of white bread and press it into the area gently. Any glass left behind will be picked up with the bread. Make sure you throw it into the paper bag with the broken glass.

Hope it helps you next time you need to clean up broken glass...or even ceramic.
