10 ways to use Argan oil for beautiful skin and hair!

Have you ever tried Argan oil? I had heard a lot about organic Argan oil and how it is amazingly moisturizing for hair and skin, but I hadn't gotten around to trying it till recently. I like using natural products as much as I possibly can and I use things like coconut oil, sweet almond oil and pure shea butter on a daily basis. I had heard so many good things about Argan oil, so I wanted to give it a try and see if it lived up to the hype.

Argan oil uses

Argan oil comes from the nut of the Argan tree which only grows in Morocco. These trees can live up to 200 years, but they don't produce nuts until at least 30 years old. That's a long time to wait! Argan oil is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids and is said to be good for skin and hair. It's often called "liquid gold" because of its rarity and healing properties.

Argan oil comes in 2 forms: culinary oil and cosmetic oil. It all starts with the nut inside the fruit of the Argan tree, but it's the processing method that makes all the difference. The oil I got is a cold pressed cosmetic grade oil.

In doing some reach I had read that Argan oil had many uses for hair, skin and nails. So that's how I used it. Here are my favorite uses:

Using Argan oil for skin and nails

1) Dry, split ends: I lighten my hair often. As you probably know that is terribly damaging to it! It often looks dry and ratty and I've tried just about everything to keep some moisture in it. Then I tried the Argan oil. I rubbed a tiny bit into the ends of my hair each day and it looks so much better and feels softer!

2) Shine treatment: Put 2-3 drops of oil in your palms and rub together. Smooth over hair and brush through for a great shine boost. So much better for your hair then chemical shine treatments!

3) Overnight conditioner: Slater some Argan Oil on your hair and leave it on overnight for a shine boosting oil treatment. (sleep with a towel on your pillow) Wash off in the morning. You'll love how soft your hair is!

4) Facial moisturizer: Argan oil absorbs very quickly. It soaks in within minutes and the oily feeling goes away quickly.

5) Eye makeup remover: I use some heavy duty mascara. You know, the waterproof kind that does not 'just wash off' with regular face soap. I applied a drop of Argan oil to each index finger and massaged it over my eye area and all the mascara just rinsed away with warm water! I was truly impressed.

Applying Argan oil to hands

6) Cuticles: I massaged a bit of Argan oil into the nail bed every day and my cuticles no longer are dry and ragged looking.

7) Dry skin patches: In my research I saw that many people use Argan oil on dry feet, especially heels. Well, my feet are just fine but my elbows are dry as heck! After rubbing a drop of oil into each one daily for a few days the problem is just about gone.

8) Razor bumps: I have fine leg hair and every time I shave, I get razor bumps and ingrown hairs within a few days. I massaged a drop or two into my legs after shaving and once daily for the next few days and I didn't get any razor bumps or those annoying ingrown hairs I'm prone to.

9) Dry lips: Just rub a drop into your lips like you would coconut oil or lip balm. Works great and doesn't have any bizarre aftertaste.

10) Skin scrub. You can add Argan oil to your homemade scrub recipes to moisturize while exfoliating. I used mine in a sugar scrub and loved the way it worked.

disclosure

There are many different brands of Argan oil on the market, but the product I started with (pictured above) was GoPure 100% Pure Argan Oil. It was a 4oz bottle that came capped, but with an additional glass dropper top. Unfortunately it appears to longer be on the market so I switched to Kate Blanc certified organic Argan oil and it's even better!

Considering that you only need 2 drops at a time, this bottle will last a long time! This oil is completely organic, rich in vitamin E and antioxidants. You can use it alone as I did or mix it in with your favorite lotion.

Argan oil is gentle enough to use on sensitive skin and babies (though always test in a small spot first in case of allergy) It has a barely detectable scent which dissipates quickly so you wont smell it at all.

I compared the price of this brand of Argan oil which I was extremely happy with, and the well known name brand and was utterly horrified how much more they charged!

You can buy this brand Here on Amazon for less then $14 with free shipping. I am thrilled I finally got the chance to try Argan oil and will be looking for more ways to use it in my health/beauty routine.
